By Eaglesafc.com AFTER AN excellent display of football, the Toronto Eagles have taken a firm hold of second spot on the OAFL ladder. In what was consider to be the match of the round, the Eagles totally dismantle a disappointing Toronto Downtown Dingo’s side defeating them by 78 points. After thunderstorms dominated much of the previous game it wasn’t looking like suitable conditions were in store. Yet with the weather miraculously clearing up moments before bounce down, punters where expecting a tight fisted battle between two of the league’s best, what they got though was a very one side affair. From the start the sign were ominous for the Dingo’s, who were only able to field a side of 16 for the match. As soon as the siren sounded the Eagles were away, dominating the first quarter with good ball movement and hard running, eventually outscoring the Dingo’s 4.2 to 0.0 The second quarter provided more of the same with hard running and quick ball movement from the Eagles exhausting a hapless Dingo’s side. The only negative for the quarter was the Eagles errant goal kicking finishing with four goals and seven behinds. The third was easily the Eagles best kicking five goals to the Dingo’s two. Eagles ruck Ajit Alister was the stand out this quarter presenting well and scoring a few goals. “I felt really good coming into the match” Alister stated “After the past few weeks poor performances, I felt I needed to step it up a notch.” The final quarter saw the Eagles still pushing hard, kicking another three goals and holding a frustrated Dingo’s side to only two. Eagles coach Aaron Falcioni was extremely pleased with his team’s performance “The boys really pushed hard all game and I feel this is probably the first game this season that we played consistently for four quarters.” Eagles midfielder Troy Marsh continued with his good form this season kicking five goals and having a huge impact on the game. Hayward, Jensen, Falcioni and Minaker also had exceptional games contesting well around the ground. The Eagles backline was excellent all day with Gallant, Bachinski, Kennedy, Dimacakos and Hellstrom containing their opposition. Next weekend the Toronto Eagles will be facing the High Park Demons in what will be the Ontario Australian Football League’s 1000th game. Make sure you get down to the ground to witness history in the making.
