THIS WEEKEND saw the Toronto Eagles compete in their first OAFL Division 2 game against the Broadview Hawks at Humber North.

Even though the final result wasn't in the Eagles favour, the fact that some of the their newest players were given the opportunity to play a full game of competitive football was exciting for the club.

This is the first year of the OAFL's Division 2 and out of the ten Division 1 teams, 5 have seconds competing.

Speaking to club president Les Milborn, about the introduction of Division 2 this year, he stated "We here at the Toronto Eagles see this as a great opportunity for OAFL clubs to start blooding new talent, its a great concept and will only benefit the league."

The Toronto Eagles have recruit very well, especially in regards to Canadians. So far this year the Eagles have recruited 5 new Canadians, so the concept of Div 2 is welcoming to the club.

Eagles coach Aaron Falcioni is also very excited about having an avenue for new and older players to play competitive football. "I love the idea of having a competition for newer players to get introduced to the sport" he stated. "This is just proof in how the OAFL is moving the league forward."

Hopefully in the coming years the remaining teams in the OAFL will be able to field sides for Division 2 and help promote future talent.
